“In 1922 the Schooner Bluenose of Lunenburg, NS raced the schooner Henry Ford of Gloucester, MA for the International Trophey in the Fisherman’s Races. This is a scan from an original press photo from the first race on October 23rd, 1922 in light breezes off Gloucester. The Henry Ford, with the number 7 on its mainsail, won that race. The Bluenose won the next two races in stronger winds to take the trophey back home to Nova Scotia. The Bluenose was launched in Lunenburg on March 26, 1921. The Henry Ford was launched in Essex, MA on April 11, 1922. She went aground while being towed to Gloucester from Essex. – From an original photo in my collection by the International Newsreel Corporation. 309 Washington St, Boston, MA taken on October 23, 1922.”
