In the alpine region, many traditions that predate Christianity are still alive and revered by the local folks. One of them is the “Klausentreiben” during the night of the sixth of December. Young males dress up like animalistic spirits, like the bear, the deer and the wolf, and roam the streets while making loud noise. That was supposed to banish the evil spirits from the underworld that were believed to gain strength during the long winternights, threatening the well-being of the village folks and their livestock.

Chisel & Mouse

Artists Statement: Hello, we are Robert and Gavin Paisley, brothers and architecture enthusiasts. Chisel & Mouse is where we bring our passion for beautiful buildings to life. Our mission is to bring great architecture into your living room. We started Chisel & Mouse in 2011, our journey has taken us from hobbyists to architectural sculptors. We take our inspiration from the built environment that surrounds us; there are some buildings that speak through their beauty, we reflect this beauty in our artistic representations.

Our sculptures are made of plaster which gives them a reassuring weight and a smooth, cool feel. Most feature fine details, such as window frames, etched in metal. We are producing eye-catching, stylish, architecturally inspired art pieces through a mix of new and old techniques and technologies. We combine traditional sculpting, moulding and casting with CAD and 3D printing to produce our collection.
